Frequently Asked Questions

What is Bleeding the Future?

Stop Bleeding the Future is a campaign built around a pledge and backed by a collection of orgs, public figures, and candidates, dedicated to getting AI money out of politics.

We’re asking every candidate and elected official to reject funding from Leading the Future — the SuperPAC backed by OpenAI, Palantir, and Marc Andreessen — return any past donations, and publicly condemn their interference in elections. The pledge is backed by a growing collection of organizations and individuals who are committed to rewarding political courage and holding accountable any candidate who puts ChatGPT ahead of their constituents.

Bleeding the Future is not a legal entity and is run by staff at anchor/partner organizations working part time. The letter is issue advocacy, and we invite all organizations, including c3s, c4s, and unincorporated groups, to join.

For partners who want to help beyond the letter, further activities will comply with the primary purpose activities of 501(c)(4) organizations.

What does signing the letter entail?

Signing the letter is an endorsement of the text, that’s it! Your logo will be placed on the website and your org’s name will be listed in the press release.

If you want to do more, there’s much to do! Recruiting more signers, advocating for candidates and elected officials to take the pledge, and organizing in-person actions.

All money in politics is bad! Why this target in particular?

Leading the Future deserves special attention right now because it’s where the most powerful players who want to kill AI regulation and build Trump & ICE’s surveillance state have pooled their resources to make a single, coordinated move.
